On 17th October, our Year 5 Griffins took to the water to Widen Horizons, learning how to paddle and navigate their way down the canal. Inspired by their current book ‘ Kensuke’s Kingdom’ the children worked as small teams racing each other past the canal boats and through the rushes. The trip was great fun and very eventful with Miss Douglas captaining her boat into the reeds. Although, it was stuck for a short while it was finally released by Andy, the trip leader. A few moments later, Mrs Wagstaff heroically rescued a dropped paddle almost ending up in the canal herself. All the children had a fantastic day and now have a greater appreciation for the events encountered by the protagonist of their book.
